HARRISONBURG, Va. – Towson dug itself an early hole and was not able to come back as the Tigers fell 10-6 to James Madison Saturday afternoon at Veterans Memorial Park.
The Dukes (15-24, 4-13 CAA) jumped to the quick lead as they scored single runs in the second and third innings before pushing across four runs in the fourth inning.
The Tigers (11-29-2, 5-12 CAA) started to make a comeback in the fifth after
Tristan Howerton delivered a two-out RBI double, then scored on a
Richie Blosser single through the left side.
Towson added two more runs in the sixth to pull within 6-4.
Chris Henze walked and
Colin Gimblet doubled with one out.
Colin Dyer delivered an RBI groundout, and the second run scored on an error off the bat of Howerton.
JMU answered right back with two runs in the home-half of the inning on a pair of RBI groundouts after the first two hitters reached on a single and a double.
Towson added a run in the seventh on a Gimblet sacrifice fly and a run in the eighth on a Blosser fielder's choice.
Kevin Ross (1-6 took the loss on the mound after giving up eight runs, seven earned, on 10 hits over five-plus innings. Michael Evans (3-3) allowed four runs, three earned, on seven hits over six innings to earn the victory.

Brady Policelli, Gimblet and Howerton each collected two hits.
The teams close out the three-game series Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m.
