NEWARK, Del. – No. 2 James Madison University used a 6-0 run to break open a close game and claim a 13-6 win over the fourth seeded Towson University women's lacrosse team in the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Championship game. The Tigers had their streak of three straight CAA titles snapped with the loss.

The Tigers and Dukes traded goals early and found themselves tied at 1-1 with 25:39 to play in the first half. Redshirt sophomore midfielder
Michelle Gildea tallied the early goal for Towson.
Back-to-back goals from freshman midfielder
Emily Gillingham and Raymond gave Towson a 3-1 lead with 19:04 remaining in the half. James Madison (15-4) briefly halted the Tiger run with a free position goal at 17:38 which made it a 3-2 game.

Kaitlyn Montalbano gave Towson a 4-2 lead with 15:31 to play in the half off a pass from Raymond. However that was the last goal of the half for the Tigers.
The Dukes closed the half on a 6-0 run and took an 8-4 lead at the half.
Jaci Gordon scored a pair of goals for James Madison during that run.
James Madison held a 17-16 edge in shots in the first half. Towson won seven of the 13 draw controls in the first 30 minutes. Towson had chances in the first half but James Madison's
Schylar Healy had six first half saves. Donnelly contributed four saves for the Tigers.
Raymond's second goal of the game opened the second half scoring and pulled the Tigers to within three, 8-5 with 28:30 to play. James Madison went back up by four, 9-5 with a goal at 12:46. The Dukes held possession for a long stretch before scoring.
Gildea's second goal of the game at 11:15 made it a 9-6 game. Gildea's goal was assisted by sophomore attacker
Michaela Duranti.
James Madison scored the final four goals of the game and secured the 13-6 win and the CAA title in the process.
The Dukes outshot the Tigers 11-6 in the second half and finished the game with a 28-22 advantage in that category. Both teams won four draw controls in the second half and the Tigers finished the game with an 11-10 edge in that category.
Healy finished with nine saves to earn the win in goal for the Dukes. Donnelly made seven saves in the loss for the Tigers.
Raymond led the Tigers with two goals, two assists, two ground balls and two draw controls in her final appearance as a Tiger. Gildea added two goals while sophomore midfielder
Samantha Brookhart had five draw controls.
Gordon led James Madison with three goals and an assist while
Ali Curwin, the CAA Tournament Most Outstanding Player, added three goals.
Towson wraps up the season with a 9-9 record. The Tigers lose Raymond, Donnelly, Dufault,
Sarah Maloof,
Paige Duncan,
Delaney Fisher and
Natasha Grant to graduation but return several key contributors for next year.
