TOWSON, Md. – The Towson University volleyball team posted a season-high 13 service aces en route to 3-0 win over Coppin State in the final match of the Towson Invitational on Sunday afternoon in SECU Arena. Freshman
Jocelyn Kuilan, who was named to the all-tournament team, led the squad with five service aces.

HOW IT HAPPENED- Kills from sophomore Julymar Otero, junior Jessica Lewis and senior Haley Pa'akaula helped the Tigers open up a 9-4 lead in the first set. Three straight service aces from Kuilan extended the Tiger advantage to 19-9. A service ace from Lewis pushed the home team's lead to 21-10. A service error by Coppin State (0-3) gave Towson a 25-13 set win.
- Both team hit the ball extremely well in the first set as Towson hit .520 and Coppin State hit .444. Redshirt junior Candace Steadman had four kills and hit .800 for the Tigers.
- The second set was the tightest of the match as there were 17 ties and six lead changes. With the set tied at 19-19, Towson went on a 6-0 run to claim the 25-19 set victory. A pair of kills from Lewis and a service ace from freshman Ellie Goodwin highlighted the run to end the set.
- Both teams had 13 kills in the second set while the Tigers used three service aces to take a 2-0 lead in the match. Pa'akaula led the Tigers with five kills and three digs in the set.
- Back-to-back service aces from Kuilan helped the Tigers (4-1) take a 8-4 lead in the third set. The two teams battled for points as a kill from Lewis gave Towson a 19-12 advantage. The Tigers closed the third set on a 4-0 run and claimed a 25-15 set win and victory in the match.
- Towson hit .364 in the third set to Coppin State's .091. Lewis led the Tigers with five kills and a .625 hitting percentage.
QUOTABLE- "Happy to be 4-1 and I thought the team did well overall," said Towson head coach Don Metil. "We are very aggressive behind the serving line and any time you can average two aces to one service error is a plus."
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE- Kuilan had 57 kills, 21 digs, seven blocks and seven service aces while hitting .321 over the weekend. She was joined on the all-tournament team by Breanna Opera of St. Francis, Lexi Dempsey  of Tennessee who was the MVP, Kanisha Jimenez  of Tennessee, Jasmine Jackson of Delaware State, Chelsee Sauni of Coppin State and Claire Van Dyk of Manhattan.
- Towson had 13 service aces, it was a season-high and the most aces by a Tiger team since they had 13 against the Citadel last year on September 12.
- Former Tiger Victoria Williams was spotted in the stands as her younger sister Alexa Williams plays for Coppin State.
The Tigers are back in action on Friday, Sept. 4 when they take on North Dakota State at 8 p.m. (EST) as part of the North Dakota State Tournament.
