I'm Honored: Senior outside hitter/middle blocker
Haley Pa'akaula had a big weekend for the Tigers. She was named the MVP of the North Dakota State Tournament and the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Offensive Player of the Week on Monday. Pa'akaula posted double-double performances in all three of the Tigers' victories and broke the school record for single-match kills with 30 against Utah Valley. It was the third time in her career that Pa'akaula was honored by the CAA. In addition Pa'akaula was named the East Coast Athletic Conference (ECAC) Player of the Week on Thursday. Off to a Strong Start: With wins in each of their last three matches, the Tigers are now 7-1 on the season and have won seven straight matches. Two more wins would allow this year's team to equal last year's squad (9-1) for the best 10 match start under Head Coach
Don Metil. The best start in school history beongs to the 2010 squad that opened the year 10-0.
Got to Get the First One: One of the keys to success for the Tigers this season has been getting off to a quick start. Saturday's match against Utah Valley marked the first time all season the Tigers lost the first set. Prior to that the Tigers had been 6-1 when they won the first set of the match.
Up Next: Following this weekend's action, the Tigers wrap up their in-season tournament action by heading to the Tennessee Tech Tournament. The Tigers will face Idaho, Western Carolina and Tennessee Tech as part of the two-day event.
