Victor Rushes Tigers to 29-26 Win

TOWSON, Md. – Towson junior running back Darius Victor rushed for a career-best 202 yards and scored three touchdowns as the Tigers improved to 2-1 with a 29-26 victory over Holy Cross Saturday evening at Johnny Unitas® Stadium.
 
How it Happened
  • Darius Victor rushed for 112 yards and three touchdowns in the second half.
  • Trailing 16-7 at the half, Victor broke up the middle for a 54-yard gain on the first play of the second half.
  • Victor capped the drive with a two-yard touchdown run.
  • After the defense forced a three-and-out, Victor scored from 34-yards out.  The Tigers converted the two-point conversion as Christian Summers made a leaping catch on a fade route.
  • Victor scored his third TD of the game from four yards out, capping a 12-play drive that covered 84 yards.
  • The touchdown run from Victor came just one play after Connor Frazier completed a 10 yard pass to kicker Sam Hurwitz on a fake field goal.
  • Nico Law put an end to the next Crusaders drive with his first interception as a Tiger.
  • The Tiger defense put the game away as they did not let Holy Cross passed midfield on their final drive of the game.  Max Tejada pressured the quarterback and forced an incompletion to end the game.
  • The Tigers only points in the first half came on an Andre Dessenberg 15-yard touchdown pass from Connor Frazier.
 
Inside the Numbers
  • Towson rushed for a season-high 276 yards.  It was the most rushing yards in a game since Towson ran for 471 yards against Eastern Illinois in the 2013 quarterfinals.
  • Victor's 202-yard game marked the first Tiger to go over 200 yards since Terrance West ran for 354 yards at Eastern Illinois.
  • Alfonso Augustine's second-quarter interception was the first for the Tigers this season.  It was also the first interception of his career.
  • Darius Victor's 54-yard run on the first play of the second half was the longest run of his career.  His previous long was 53 yards against North Carolina Central on Sept. 20, 2014.
  • Victor's 34-yard touchdown run was the longest touchdown run of his career.
  • Linebacker Malik Jackson recorded a career-best 10 tackles.
  • Zain Harps Upshur recorded two tackles-for-loss and a sack in the victory.
  • Quarterback Connor Frazier has thrown a touchdown pass in each of the first three games this season.
 
Towson returns to action Sept. 26 as they open Colonial Athletic Association play at Elon.  Kickoff is set for 3 p.m.
