Former CAA Foes ODU And Towson Meet Saturday In SECU Arena

TOWSON, Md. – The Towson University men's basketball team welcomes Old Dominion for a non-conference game. It will be a battle between a pair of teams that won at least 20 games last season. Towson and Old Dominion were both members of the Colonial Athletic Association from 2001-13.

Both teams enter the game coming off of victories in their last outings this past Wednesday. Ahmad Caver and Jordan Baker scored 14 points each to lead ODU to a 59-47 victory over Dartmouth. Brandon Stith also scored 11 points.

Meanwhile, Dennis Tunstall posted a double-double of 16 points and 13 rebounds to lead Towson during its 99-37 victory over Division III Goucher. He was one of four players in double figures for Towson along with John Davis (12 points), Deshaun Morman (11), and Zane Martin (career-high 11).

A Look at Old Dominion
Brandan Stith leads the Monarchs in scoring with 13.3 point per game average to compliment his 7.5 rpg. Also averaging double-figures are Caver (11.3) and Baker (10.2). Denzell Taylor leads the squad in rebounding, hauling down 9.2 per contest, including 4.83 offensive boards per game, which ranks fifth in the nation. As a team, ODU ranks No. 5 in the country for offensive rebounds per game with 16.5. The Monarchs are holding opponents to 58.7 points per game, which ranks No. 11 in the NCAA. Old Dominion's 43.67 total rebounds per contest ranks 15th nationally.

Points Runneth Over
In two of its first three home games this season, Towson has had massive runs that have been difference makers. Towson unleased a 30-0 first half blitz against Stony Brook on Nov. 25 and a 28-0 run that bridged the first and second halves against Goucher on Nov. 30.
 
Davis Thriving
John Davis posted consecutive double-doubles last week against Stony Brook (13 points, 10 rebounds) and Robert Morris (18, 10) for the first time since Jan. 22-24, 2015. For Davis it was his 18th career double-double. After missing his first six 3-pointers of the season, Davis has made his last three, hitting one in each of Towson's first three home games.
 
Good Works Team
Eddie Keith II was named as a nominee to the NABC Good Works Team. There are 113 Division I men's basketball players nominated for the award, including six from the CAA, which recognizes an outstanding group of student-athletes who represent the sport's finest in the areas of community service and leadership among their peers.
 
"Eddie is an outstanding young man and a high character individual," Towson head coach Pat Skerry said. "He represents our program and does everything we ask him to do on and off the court. Eddie has the respect of his teammates as well as the entire campus. He's been an asset to our program and we're happy he's nominated for this honor."
 
Streaks
Davis has made a 3-pointer in three straight games and Morsell has made a triple in five straight games … Morman and Davis have scored in double figures in three straight games.
 
Goucher Leftovers
Towson held Goucher to 15 points in the second half … All 12 Towson players marked the scoring column … Nine players made at least two baskets against Goucher … Martin also had a career best four steals … Towson had a season high 18 assists on its 36 baskets … Tunstall and Starr led the Tigers in minutes played with 22.
