Tigers Win Season Finale

BOSTON, Mass. – Kyle Stricker threw six shutout innings out of the bullpen to pitch Towson University to a 7-4 victory over Northeastern in the 2016 season finale.

How It Happened
  • The Tigers (20-35, 10-14 CAA) jumped out to the early advantage as A.J. Gallo and Jay Sanford hit back-to-back singles in the second inning.  Cuinn Mullins drove in Gallo with a double into the gap in left center.  After a walk to John Drexel loaded the bases, Richie Palacios drew his second walk of the day, scoring the second run of the inning.
  • The Huskies (29-25, 12-11 CAA) got a run back in the bottom of the inning on a Shane Allen RBI single up the middle.
  • The Tigers added to the lead in the third inning after Colin Gimblet singled, and Gallo and Sanford walked to load the bases.  Mullins drove in a run with a single through the left side before John Drexel drove in two runs with a double to left center.
  • A costly two-out throwing error in the bottom of the third allowed two runs to score for the Huskies.  Cam Hanley added to the trouble with an RBI double to center.
  • The Tigers pushed the lead back to two in the seventh after Palacios and Colin Dyer walked to start the inning.  Clark Clatchey drove in Palacios with a single up the middle.
  • Towson added an insurance run in the ninth as Brady Policelli tripled into the right-field corner and scored on Gallo's sacrifice fly to left field.
  • Stricker (6-2) was dominant all day as he allowed only a one-out single in the ninth inning.  The junior struck out six and did not walk a batter.
  • Brian Christian (1-2) took the loss after giving up four runs on four hits over 2.1 innings.
  • Mullins paced the offense by going 2-for-5 with a double and two RBIs.
  • Clatchey came off the bench to go 2-for-2 with a walk and an RBI.
