MACON, Ga. – The Towson University volleyball team matched its season-high with 13 team blocks in a 3-0 win over Fairleigh Dickinson to close out the Mercer Tournament on Saturday morning. Senior
Lindsay Flaherty led the way with seven blocks in the match, her second match of the weekend with seven or more blocks.

Jocelyn Kuilan were named to the all-tournament team.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- With the Tigers trailing 14-13 in the first set, Towson (11-2) used an 8-4 run to take a 21-18 lead. Sophomore Meredith Dignan had a service ace while redshirt senior Candace Steadman and junior Payton Windell combined for a block. Back-to-back kills from Lewis and Windell closed out a 25-22 first set victory.
- The Tigers and Knights (0-14) battled early in the second set before Towson scored eight of the next 11 points to take a 20-16 lead. Kuilan had a pair of kills and a pair of service aces to pace the Tigers during that scoring run. The two teams continued to trade points before a kill from Flaherty finished off a 25-21 set win and Towson took a 2-0 lead in the match.
- A kill from freshman Marrisa Wonders allowed Towson to open up a 10-6 lead in the third set. Another service ace from Kuilan pushed the Tiger advantage to 17-11. A kill from freshman Annie Ertz extended the Towson lead to 20-15. The Tigers closed out a 25-20 set win and claimed victory in the match on a kill from freshman Emily Russell.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- The Tigers matched their season-high with 13 team blocks, which was originally set against Princeton last weekend. It was the fourth time in the last six matches that the team has recorded 10 or more team blocks in a match.
- Seven Tigers recorded at least one block in the match and that group was led by Flaherty's seven.
- Kuilan paced the Tiger offense with 14 kills, four service aces and five blocks.
- Biver was the only other Tiger to reach double-digit kills as she finished with 10.
- Wonders dished out 27 assists while Dignan had 13 digs.
- Towson held Fairleigh Dickinson to a .091 hitting percentage in the match.
The Tigers are back in action on Tuesday, Sept. 20 when they host VCU at 6 p.m. in SECU Arena.
