Let the Busy Weekend Begin: The Tigers have hit one of the busier stretches on their schedule with three matches in four days this weekend. Towson kicks off the action on Friday, Sept. 30 with a 7 p.m. match against College of Charleston. The action continues on Saturday, Oct. 1 as the Tigers welcome UNCW, the defending Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Champs for another 7 p.m. contest. The action wraps up with a 7 p.m. match on Monday, Oct. 3 against Elon. Links to live stats and the video feeds can be found on the schedule page of TowsonTigers.com. Fans can also follow the Tigers on Twitter (

Hometown Heroes: Friday night's contest is the Tigers' "Hometown Heroes" match. The team will recognize military personnel and first responders. All "Hometown Heroes" have a chance to receive four complimentary tickets to the match. The team received visits this week in practice from members of the Maryland Army National Guard, the Baltimore City and County Police and Fire Departments.

Looking at the Tigers: Towson is coming off a 3-1 win over Delaware on Saturday night in the CAA opener. Senior
Jessica Lewis tallied a season-best 25 kills in that contest. Lewis powers the Tiger offense with 234 kills, 159 digs, 16 service aces and a .321 hitting percentage. Sophomore
Jocelyn Kuilan is contributing 154 kills, 25 blocks and 17 service aces on the season. Freshman
Marrisa Wonders is coming off a match in which she dished out 43 assists and now has 394 helpers this season. Redshirt sophomore
Anna Holehouse anchors the backline with 182 digs while senior
Lindsay Flaherty has a team-high 56 blocks.
Scouting the Opponents: College of Charleston improved to 2-0 in CAA play with wins over Hofstra and Northeastern last weekend. The Cougars were led by CAA Defensive Player of the Week,
McKala Rhodes. Rhodes contributed 48 digs (6.86 per set) in the two victories.
Madison Kennedy leads Charleston with 129 kills and 24 blocks while
Maddie Hills has added 116 kills.
Allison Beckman has posted 512 assists while Rhodes has a team-high 228 digs.
UNCW is sitting at 1-1 after the opening weekend of CAA play (lost to Northeastern and beat Hofstra). The defending CAA Champs will face Delaware on Thursday night before coming to Towson on Saturday. The Seahawks are led by
Nicole Lott who has 159 kills and 171 digs.
Sydney Brock has a team-high 58 blocks and 103 kills while
Alyssa Desjardins has posted 316 assists.
Series History: The Tigers carry some momentum into Friday's meeting with the Cougars. Charleston leads the all-time series 5-2, however the Tigers are coming off a season sweep of the Cougars last year.
Saturday's meeting between the Tigers and Seahawks will be the 29th all-time. The Tigers lead the matchup between the two squads, 20-8. Last year the two teams split the season series with each team claiming victory on its home court.
Twenty-Twenty Vision: Senior
Jessica Lewis led the Tigers with a season-high 25 kills in the win over Delaware. It was Lewis' fourth 20+ kill match of the season, she is the only CAA player to record 20 or more kills in four matches this season. Lewis now has recorded 20 or more kills as a Tiger five times.
I'm Honored: Freshman
Marrisa Wonders was named the CAA Co-Rookie of the Week on Monday. Wonders, who was honored for the first time in her career, recorded 98 assists, 28 digs, three kills and two service aces in a pair of wins last week. Wonders had a pair of double-doubles raising her season total to a team-best eight. Wonders is the second Tiger to be honored by the CAA this season (
Jessica Lewis-two time offensive player of the week).
Up Next: The Tigers wrap up the weekend action when they host Elon on Monday night at 7 p.m. Towson then hits the road for two matches before returning home to host Delaware State on Tuesday, Oct. 11 at 6 p.m.
