Tigers Open the 2017-18 Season at Georgetown on Saturday

TOWSON, Md. - The Towson University men's swimming and diving teams officially open the season on Saturday when the Tigers travel to Georgetown for a dual meet inside McCarthy Pool beginning at 1 p.m.

Last year was a highly successful season for the Tigers. The team finished third at the CAA Men's Swimming Championship while junior Jack Saunderson was named the CAA Swimmer of the Meet after winning the 100 and 200-yard butterfly in school record times.

Saunderson was also selected as the CAA Swimmer of the Year and earned Honorable Mention All-America honors in 200 at the NCAA Division I Swimming and Diving Championships.

Other All-CAA returnees for Towson this season include senior Nick Essing (400 free relay, 200 medley relay, 400 medley relay) and junior Evan Brophy (800 free relay).

A year ago, the Tigers posted a 171-126 dual meet victory over Georgetown at home. They won 12 of the 16 events and posted 24 top-3 finishes.

The Hoyas opened the season with a 175-125 victory over Delaware at home on October 1.
