TOWSON, Md. – The Towson University volleyball team wraps up the first half of its Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) schedule with a trip to James Madison on Sunday, Oct. 15. First serve from Sinclair Gymnasium in Harrisonburg, Virginia is set for 1 p.m.
The Tigers enter Sunday's contest riding a two-match streak following a 3-1 win at Delaware on Wednesday night. Towson powered home a season-high 13 service aces against the Blue Hens with sophomore
Silvia Grassini leading the squad with six. Junior
Jocelyn Kuilan led the offensive attack in that contest with 13 kills.
Kuilan paces the Tigers on the season with 233 kills and 90 digs and 24 service aces. Fellow junior
Carola Biver is contributing 215 kills and 178 digs while sophomore
Marrisa Wonders has dished out 488 assists. Redshirt junior
Anna Holehouse leads the defensive efforts with 375 digs while junior
Olamide Sonuga leads the team at the net with 71 blocks.
James Madison is coming off a 3-0 win over Delaware on Friday night. The Dukes got 10 kills and four blocks from
Bryn Recker in that match while
Sarah Martin had 13 assists, five kills and five blocks.
The Dukes are led by Recker who has 208 kills and 119 digs while
M'Kaela White has contributed 144 kills and a team-best 86 blocks. Martin has handed out 309 assists while
Sarah Driscoll has 103 digs.
Sunday's meeting will be the 54th meeting all-time between the Tigers and Dukes. James Madison holds a slim 27-26 edge in the match-up after taking two of three contests last year. Towson earned a 3-0 win at home before the Dukes posted a five-set win at home and claimed victory in the CAA Tournament.
Jocelyn Kuilan had 42 kills and hit .466 in the three matches combined.
Following Sunday's action the Tigers will be back on the court when they host Elon on Friday, Oct. 20 at 7 p.m.
