TOWSON, Md. – The Towson University volleyball team hit .347 en route to a 3-0 win over William & Mary on Sunday afternoon in Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) play. The Tigers (21-3, 7-3 CAA) posted their fourth best hitting percentage of the season while running their win streak to five straight matches.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Trailing 6-5 in the first set, Towson used a 5-0 run to take a 10-6 advantage. Junior Carola Biver had a pair of early kills for the Tigers.
- A kill from sophomore Silvia Grassini pushed the Black and Gold's lead to 15-9.
- Following a timeout, William & Mary reeled off a 6-1 run and pulled to within one, 16-15. Casey Foote had three kills during that stretch.
- Towson responded by scoring five of the next six points and extended its lead to 21-16. Grassini had a kill and a big solo block during that run.
- Kate Dedrick had a kill which made it 21-17, however that was the last point the Tribe (4-20, 1-9 CAA) would score in the set.
- Towson closed the stanza on a 4-0 run, which was capped by a service ace from junior Jocelyn Kuilan. That gave the home team a 25-17 set win and the early advantage in the match.
- A kill from senior Julymar Otero allowed the Tigers to open up a 6-2 advantage to start the second set.
- A 4-0 run, highlighted by a service ace from Grassini, pushed the Towson lead to 15-8.
- Back-to-back kills from junior Olamide Sonuga gave the home team a 17-9 advantage on the scoreboard.
- William & Mary called timeout and out of the break scored five straight points to pull to within three, 17-14. Julia Brown had a pair of kills and a hand in all three Tribe blocks during that stretch.
- The two teams went back-and-forth down the stretch but two straight kills from Biver gave Towson a 25-16 set win and a 2-0 advantage in the match. Biver's second kill came after a massive rally that saw 18 touches between the two sides, including Kuilan diving face first towards the Tiger bench.
- Towson rode the service game of Biver early in the third set. With the junior serving, Towson scored the first six points of the stanza. Biver had a pair of service aces while Grassini added a pair of kills and a block.
- A kill from Kuilan pushed the Towson advantage to 10-6.
- A 5-0 run by the Black and Gold gave the home team an 18-8 lead on the scoreboard. Biver contributed three kills during that stretch.
- Biver's third service ace of the set pushed the Tigers to within one of match point, 24-11.
- William & Mary scored three straight points before a kill from freshman Kamryn Stambaugh gave Towson a 25-14 set win and victory in the match.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- The Tigers hit .347 in the match while holding William & Mary to a .074 hitting percentage. It was the 18th time this season the Tigers have held an opponent to a hitting percentage under .200.
- Towson completed the season sweep of William & Mary and has now won eight straight matches versus the Tribe.
- The Tigers recorded seven service aces in the contest while holding the Tribe to just one. It was the seventh time this season Towson has recorded seven or more service aces in a match. Biver led the Tiger efforts with four service aces.
- Otero had a match-high 12 kills while hitting .550. She added 20 assists for her fifth straight double-double and ninth of the season. Otero also added eight digs and three blocks in the contest.
- Biver finished with nine kills and eight digs in addition to her four service aces. Kuilan also had nine kills and eight digs.
- Sophomore Marrisa Wonders dished out 20 assists while redshirt junior Anna Holehouse posted 14 digs and four assists.
- Brown led William & Mary with six kills and five blocks.
The Tigers are back in action when they hit the road for the final time during the regular season. Towson visits Hofstra on Friday, October 27 and Northeastern on Sunday, October 29.
