TOWSON, Md. – The Towson University volleyball team celebrated "Senior Day" with a 3-0 victory over the University of Delaware in its regular season finale on Sunday afternoon. The Tigers (26-4, 12-4 CAA) celebrated seniors
Julymar Otero and
Payton Windell  before the match and both played a key role in the team's third straight win.
Windell, who suffered a season-ending injury the first weekend of September, returned to the court to deliver the match's first serve and then ended the match with a service ace. Otero contributed a team-high 14 kills, 15 assists and eight digs.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Trailing 4-1 in the first set, the Tigers used a 10-2 run to take an 11-6 lead in the stanza. Otero had three kills during that stretch while junior Carola Biver chipped in two more.
- Delaware pulled to within two, 13-11 on a kill from Daria Robinson.
- Towson responded by scoring six of the next eight points and extended its advantage to 19-13. Biver had a pair of kills to highlight that run.
- The two teams continued to battle before a kill from Otero gave Towson a 25-20 set win.
- With the second set tied at 5-5, the Tigers used a 5-2 run to take a 10-7 edge. Junior Jocelyn Kuilan connected on a big service ace during that stretch.
- Delaware battled back and took a 15-13 lead on a bad set by the Tigers.
- Towson called timeout and scored six of the next 10 points which allowed the Black and Gold to take a 19-18 advantage. Sophomore Silvia Grassini powered home a pair of kills during that scoring spurt.
- The two teams battled through several more ties before a kill from Otero once again ended the set. This time the Tigers earned a 25-23 set win and took a 2-0 lead in the match.
- Delaware led 4-1 in the third set before Towson manufactured a 7-0 run and took an 8-4 lead on the scoreboard. Grassini contributed back-to-back service aces during that stretch for the Tigers.
- Delaware pulled to within one, 8-7 on a kill from Maria Bellinger.
- The Tigers then scored eight of the next nine points and took a 16-9 lead in the set. Sophomore Annie Ertz had a pair of service aces during that run by the home team.
- Â A kill from Biver pushed the Towson advantage to 19-10.
- The two teams continued to battle before a kill from junior Olamide Sonuga pushed the Tigers to match point, 24-17.
- That set the stage for Towson head coach Don Metil to reinsert his injured senior Windell. She delivered the service ace which gave the Tigers a 25-17 set win and victory in the match.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Towson swept the season series from Delaware and closed out the regular season on a three-match win streak.
- Windell and Otero have combined to lead the Tigers to 103 wins over the past four years and the Tigers appeared in the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Tournament all four years.
- Redshirt junior Anna Holehouse finished with 15 digs in the match and during the second set passed former Towson great, Stacy Humphries for second place on the career digs list at Towson. Holehouse now has 1,622 career digs while Humphries finished with 1,617.
- In addition to Otero's 14 kills, the Tigers got 10 kills and 16 digs from Biver.
- Sophomore Marrisa Wonders dished out 22 assists to go along with eight digs.
The Tigers will be back in action when they begin their CAA Championship run. The Tigers received the two seed for the tournament and will receive a bye through the first day of action. Towson will face the winner of No. 3 James Madison and No. 6 Elon on Friday, November 17.
