Jocelyn Kuilan and sophomore
Olivia Finckel combined for 28 kills but it was not enough as the Towson University volleyball team fell to the College of Charleston, 3-1 on Friday night in Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) action. The Tigers celebrated their "Autism Awareness" match and wore blue uniforms in the contest.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Cougars (23-4, 12-1 CAA) opened up an 8-4 lead in the first set on an attack error by the Tigers.
- Towson (23-4, 9-4 CAA) called timeout following that play and out of the break went on an 8-3 run and took a 12-11 edge. Kuilan had a pair of kills during that stretch.
- Charleston called timeout and following the break the Tigers scored four of the next seven points and pushed their lead to 16-14. Redshirt junior Anna Holehouse and Kuilan each had a service ace during that stretch.
- The Cougars manufactured a 5-0 run and went on top, 19-16. Krissy Mummey had a pair of kills for Charleston during that stretch.
- The two teams traded points before a block from Jane Feddersen and Kennedy Madison gave the Cougars a 25-21 set win.
- The second set was the closest of the match as the Tigers and Cougars battled through 11 ties and six lead changes.
- Trailing 13-12, Charleston used a 6-2 run to take an 18-15 advantage. Mummey notched a pair of kills during that stretch.
- A kill from Madison pushed the Cougars' lead to 22-17.
- A kill from Kuilan on the next play started a 6-0 run for the home team and the Black and Gold took a 23-22 lead. Kuilan had three kills and a hand in a pair of Tiger blocks during that key run.
- A kill from Madison and an attack error by the Tigers put the Cougars on the verge of set point, 24-23.
- However the Towson called timeout and out of the break, a kill from Kuilan and a pair of blocks aided by sophomore Silvia Grassini gave Towson a 26-24 set win and tied the match at 1-1.
- Charleston scored seven of the first 11 points in the third set and took an early lead on a kill from Mummey.
- A block from Grassini and Finckel pulled the Tigers to within three, 12-9.
- A kill from Devon Rachel pushed the Cougars lead to 16-11.
- Charleston took a 2-1 lead in the match as a bad set by the Tigers gave the visitors a 25-16 win in the third set.
- The Cougars were extremely effective at the net in the fourth set. Charleston tallied team blocks during the stanza, including three early that gave the visitors an 8-2 advantage.
- The Cougars eventually claimed a 25-11 set win and victory in the match on a block from Mummey and Rachel. Â
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- The Tigers saw their seven-match win streak snapped, suffering their first loss since they fell at Charleston on Oct. 6.
- Charleston hit .278 to the Tigers' .141 in the contest.
- Kuilan led the Tigers with 15 kills while hitting .290 while Finckel contributed 13 kills.
- Sophomore Marrisa Wonders posted her 12th double-double of the season with 29 assists and 11 digs.
- Holehouse finished with 20 digs and four assists.
- Mummey led Charleston with 15 kills and seven blocks while Rachel had a match-high 16 kills.Â
It's a quick turnaround for the Tigers as they will be back on the court Saturday, November 4 when they host UNCW at 7 p.m.
