HOW IT HAPPENED
- Kristin Yevoli opened the game with a pair of goals and gave Stony Brook a 2-0 lead with 26:07 left on the clock.
- Towson responded with a pair of goals from junior midfielder Emily Gillingham and senior midfielder Michaela Duranti and tied the game with 19:55 to go in the half.
- Free position goals from Dorrien Van Dyke and Courtney Murphy highlighted a 3-0 run that gave the Seawolves a 5-2 run with 5:23 left on the clock.
- Towson closed the half on a 3-0 run of its own. Sophomore attacker Carly Tellekamp battled for an unassisted goal before free position goals from junior midfielder Kaitlyn Montalbano and Gillingham tied the game at 5-5.
- Stony Brook struck first in the second half as Van Dyke tallied her second of the day.
- Towson got a pair of goals just 41 seconds apart and took a 7-6 lead with 24:08 to play. Sophomore attacker Natalie Sulmonte scored an unassisted goal before Tellekamp struck for her second of the day.
- Stony Brook scored two of the next three goals and the teams found themselves tied at 8-8 with 17:11 to play.
- Junior attacker Jenna Kerr found a cutting redshirt senior attacker Alyssa Ferro for the go-ahead goal for the Tigers at 10:35.
- Samantha DiSavlo tied the game at 9-9 with her second goal of the game at 1:53.
- Towson had a chance in the final minute as the Tigers had the ball in the offensive end with under 30 seconds to play. However the Tigers could not get the shot off and were called for a 90-second shot clock violation.
- Stony Brook cleared the ball up the field and was awarded a free position shot with six seconds to play. The Seawolves passed on the initial shot but Kasey Mitchell found an open Ohlmiller in front of the net for what proved to be the game-winning goal.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- The game was the first official game for either team with the 90-second shot clock.
- Both teams recorded double digit caused turnovers in the game as the Tigers had 11 and Stony Brook finished with 13.
- Senior defender Kelly McQuilkin posted a game and career-high five caused turnovers in the game.
- Towson held a slim 11-10 edge in draw controls while the Seawolves outshot the Tigers 24-23.
- Keating had eight saves for the Tigers while Anna Tesoriero had six saves for Stony Brook.
- Tellekamp and Gillingham each had two goals for the Tigers. Senior attacker Samantha Brookhart had a team-high two assists.
- Ohlmiller led Stony Brook with four points on a goal and three assists.
- The Tiger defense held Courtney Murphy, who set an NCAA record with 100 goal last spring to just one goal in the game.
