Miller Homers in Loss to #25 East Carolina

GREENVILLE, N.C. – Towson University sophomore Richard Miller hit the first home run of his career in the Tigers 9-4 setback at No. 25 East Carolina Friday evening.

How it Happened
  • The Tigers got on the board first as Colin Dyer singled to left field with one out in the first inning.  After going to third on a fielding error, Logan Burke drove in Dyer with a fielder's choice.
  • The Pirates came right back in the home-half off the inning and pushed across three runs on four hits.
  • A two-run double from Charlie Yorgen in the second and a run-scoring single from Bryce Harman in the third helped push the lead to 6-1 after three innings.
  • Towson cut the lead to three in the fourth inning as Colin Gimblet and Miler drew back-to-back one-out walks.  Cuinn Mullins drove in Gimblet with a base hit to left field.  Two batters later, Billy Lennox drove in the second run with an infield single.
  • The Tigers got their fourth run of the game on Miller's solo home run to right field on the first pitch of the sixth inning.
  • Dean Stramara (1-2) took the loss after allowing four runs on five hits in one-plus innings of work.
  • Jake Agnos (1-0) allowed four runs, three earned, on eight hits over six innings to pick up the victory.
  • Sam Lanier retired all nine Tigers he faced to earn his first save.
  • Lennox came off the bench to collect a career-high three hits and drive in a run.
  • Miller added two hits and scored a pair of runs.
