Grunberg Collects Two Hits, Flashes Leather

MT. PLEASANT, S.C. – Centerfielder Mark Grunberg collected a pair of hits and made two outstanding diving catches in Towson's 5-0 loss to the College of Charleston Saturday afternoon.

How it Happened
  • Grunberg got his day going in the first inning when he started the game with a double to right center field.
  • The Cougars were able to score a run in the home-half of the first as Dupree Hart doubled and went to third on a wild pitch.  Tommy Richter drove in the runner with a sacrifice fly to center.
  • Grunberg made sure the Cougars did not score in the second inning as he went full extension into the gap in right center to take away a hit.
  • CofC added to its lead in the fifth inning on a two-run homer from Xavier Freeman.
  • The leather was flashed again in the sixth inning as Grunberg raced in from center and made a diving catch to end the frame.
  • The Cougars added a run in the seventh before scoring an unearned run in the eighth.
  • Kevin Ross (0-4) had another strong start in a losing effort.  The senior gave up four runs on seven hits over seven innings.
  • Evan Sisk (5-0) picked up the victory after allowing just three hits and striking out seven over seven shutout innings.
  • Grunberg collected two hits, including a double, while Billy Lennox doubled off the wall in left field.
