I'm Honored: Junior
Olamide Sonuga was named the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Co-Defensive Player of the Week on Monday. Sonuga led the Tigers with 32 kills (2.00 per set), 23 blocks (1.44 per set) and a .448 hitting percentage in the five matches combined. She is the second Tiger to earn defensive player of the week accolades this season (
Anna Holehouse -Aug. 28).
In the Poll: Riding their early season success, the Tigers found themselves ranked in the Volleyball Magazine Mid-Major Top 25 Poll this week. The Mid-Major Top 25 features teams not part of one of the power five conferences (ACC, SEC, Big Ten, Big 12 and Pac-12). After receiving votes for each of the last two weeks, the Tigers jumped into the poll at No. 25 this week. The Tigers received 49 points in the poll.
Take Me to Your Leader: The Tigers, who are on an 11-game win streak and off to the best start to a season in school history, are one of just 11 remaining undefeated teams in the country. Aced It: Junior
Jocelyn Kuilan led the Tigers with seven service aces last weekend and now has 13 for the season and 92 for her career. Kuilan needs three more aces to crack the top 15 for career service aces at Towson. She would become the first Tiger since
Paige Sekerak (2011-14) to join that list.
Up Next: Towson will be back in action when CAA play begins next weekend. The Tigers travel to Elon on Friday, Sept. 22 and William & Mary on Sunday, Sept. 24.
