Homestand Ends With Visit From Elon

TOWSON, Md. – The Towson University men's basketball team concludes its two-game homestand by hosting Elon.
 
It's Military Appreciation Day and there will be plenty of activities throughout the day. Local military personnel, along with guests, can receive four (4) complimentary tickets, and additional tickets can be purchased at a discounted $5 price. Last Time Out For Towson
Towson rallied from a 11-point deficit to defeat William & Mary, 96-82, Thursday night. Zane Martin scored a career-high and SECU Arena record 35 points to lead Towson. He scored 10 points in overtime as the Tigers outscored W&M, 17-3. Brian Starr was phenomenal in scoring 15 points, handing out five assists and collecting four steals. Deshaun Morman added 13 points, Mike Morsell scored 11 points and grabbed a team best seven rebounds. Eddie Keith II had 10 points. Alex Thomas, Dennis Tunstall and Justin Gorham were defensive stalwarts and helped disrupt the Tribe's offensive flow.
 
A Look At Elon
Elon fell to Drexel, 83-79 on Thursday night, Jan. 25. Tyler Seibring paced Elon with 19 points and four rebounds. Additionally, Steven Santa Ana and Sheldon Eberhardt scored 13 points apiece and Dmitri Thompson added 11 to Elon's scoring. Dainan Swoope dished out a game-high seven assists for the Phoenix. Seibring, who leads Elon in scoring (14.2) and rebounding (6.4), has a 10-game double-digit scoring streak. In addition to Seibring, Swoope (13.1 ppg.), Brian Dawkins (12.0), Thompson (11.4), and Steven Santa Ann (10.5) all average double figures for the Phoenix. SheldonEberhardt has the 3rd-best assist/turnover ratio in the CAA with a 2.4 ratio with 64 assists to just 28 turnovers.
 
Last Meeting Against Elon
Zane Martin scored a career best 27 points to lead Towson during its 75-72 setback to Elon in a Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) contest at Alumni Gym on Tuesday, Jan. 2. Eddie Keith II added 10 points, including a put back of a missed shot with 56 seconds remaining that gave the Tigers their final lead of the game, 72-71. Justin Gorman and Deshaun Morman provided a lift off the bench with nine points each. Elon scored 48 points in the second half on 69.2 percent shooting. Four players reached double figures for Elon led by Steven Santa Ana's 17 points.Tyler Seibring (16 points), Thompson (15) and Dainan Swoope (12 points, six assists) made key plays for Elon.
 
SECU Success
Towson is 54-18 all-time at SECU Arena. Over the last three years, the Tigers are 31-8. Towson is 8-1 at SECU this season. Six of its eight wins have been by double digits. 
 
Marvelous Martin
Martin's 35 points were the most by a Towson men's basketball player in the short history of SECU Arena. It was also the 10th best scoring effort in program history. Martin is ranked among the top 100 nationally in a few offensive categories. He is 30th overall in field goals made (148), 31st in total points (419), 49th in field goal attempts (300) and 67th in points per game (19.0). Martin has scored in double figures in 16 consecutive games. He has 11 games of 20 or more points and one game over 30 points.
 
Up Next
Towson begins a three-game road trip by visiting Delaware on Thursday, Feb. 1 at 7 p.m. It will be the 79th renewal of the annual rivalry. The Tigers have won four straight and seven of the last 10 games over the Blue Hens.

Towson returns home to host Northeastern on Saturday, Feb. 10 at 2 p.m. It's the Tigers' annual Autism Awareness Game.
