TOWSON, Md. –
The Towson University men's and women's swimming and diving teams officially open the season on Saturday, Oct.13 at home verses Georgetown and James Madison in Burdick Hall with diving at 11 a.m. and swimming at 2:30 p.m. The dual meet will take place at Burdick Pool. Admission is free but fans are encouraged to arrive early as seating will be limited.
Georgetown (Towson leads 15-8 men 12-4 women). This will be the 24th meeting between the Tigers and Hoyas on the men's side. It will be the 17th
meeting between the women's squads. The Towson men hold a 15-8 series advantage over the Hoyas. Last season they fell 153-147. The women lead the series 12-4 defeating the Hoyas 160-135.
The Series: James Madison
Last time out only the Divers competed at James Madison for the JMU Invitational. Jake Casey
recorded a score of 174.20 on the one-meter boards. On the women's side Emily Wilson
finished eighth in the one-meter boards finals with a score of 245.70. She placed fifth in the prelims (244.00).
placed 11th overall after scoring 234.85 in the event prelims. Kelsey Jehl
followed in 12th-place (231.95) and Ali Profeta in 13th-place (221.55). Emilee Torres
placed 17th on the one-meter boards (187.75).
Fans will see a number of new faces on the pool deck this season. The men's team added five freshmen and the women have seven. In addition Coach Shrum added two new coaches, Carrie Dukes
and Kendall Towe
. The Tigers have six captains this year all ready to lead the team to a great season.
