Towson Drops Road Match At William & Mary

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – The Towson University men's basketball team placed three players in double figures during its 71-61 setback at William & Mary in a Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) game at Kaplan Arena Sunday.
 
How It Happened
  • Brian Fobbs and Jakigh Dottin scored 12 points to lead the Tigers.
  • Jordan McNeil tied a season-high with 10 points.
  • Dennis Tunstall flirted with a double-double with nine points and 10 rebounds.
  • Alex Thomas had nine points.
  • Towson won the rebounding battle for the seventh consecutive game, 38-24.
  • Nakye Sanders had two blocked shots.
  • Thomas brought Towson to within 52-50 with 7 minutes, 23 seconds remaining with a basket.
  • As part of a 16-6 run, William & Mary scored on six consecutive possessions to open a 12-point lead with 84 seconds remaining.
  • William & Mary's Matt Milon scored 16 of his game-high 19 points in the second half.
  • Milon had 10 points in the final 6:52 after the Tigers closed to within two points.
  • Also reaching double figures for the Tribe were Justin Pierce (18 points), Nathan Knight (13 points) and Chase Audige (13).
  • William & Mary scored 10 consecutive points to open a 34-20 lead with 2:12 remaining in the first half.
  • The Tribe finished with 22 assists of its 25 baskets.
 
Inside the Numbers
  • Towson held William & Mary scoreless for the final 2:12 of the first half.
  • This was the seventh time in the last eight meetings against William & Mary that the Tigers trailed by double figures at some point in the game.
  • This was the second time in three games that Dottin has scored in double figures.
  • Dottin also tied his career best scoring total.
  • This was Tunstall's fourth game with double digit rebounds.
  • This was the 10th consecutive game in which Tunstall finished with at least six rebounds.
  • The nine points were a season best.
  • This was the fourth time this season and 14th time in McNeil's career that he's reached double figures in scoring.
  • The Tigers turned 15 offensive rebounds into 15 second-chance points.
  • Towson won the battle of the benches, 25-6.
