Fobbs and Howard Lead Towson Against Morgan State

BALTIMORE – Brian Fobbs led the Towson University men's basketball team during a 74-69 setback to Morgan State in "The Battle For Greater Baltimore" at Royal Farms Arena Saturday afternoon.
 
How It Happened
  • Fobbs led the Tigers with 16 points, nine rebounds and a career best three assists.
  • Tobias Howard Jr. added 11 points and four assists for Towson.
  • Nakye Sanders and Dennis Tunstall had identical statistical lines of eight points and seven rebounds.
  • Morgan State outscored Towson 17-9 over the last five minutes.
  • Morgan State turned 21 Towson turnovers into 22 points.
  • The Bears shot 53.1 percent (17-for-32) in the second half, a number helped by making their final four field goal attempts to overcome a late 65-63 deficit.
  • David Syfax gave Morgan State the lead three times in the final four minutes.
  • His bucket in the paint gave the Bears the lead for good, 69-67 with 1:08 remaining.
  • Fobbs gave Towson its final advantage of the contest, 65-63, after making his second 3-pointer of the game with 3 minutes, 20 seconds remaining.
  • The Tigers took control early by scoring 14 consecutive points to turn a 6-5 deficit into a 19-6 edge with 12:04 remaining.
  • That was part of a 20-4 burst that helped Towson open its largest lead of the first half, 23-9 with 9:50 remaining.
  • Six different Tigers led by Howard's eight points, scored during the Tigers' scoring surge.
  • During that stretch, the Tigers held Morgan State to 1-of-14 shooting.
  • Sherwyn Devonish (19 points), Martez Cameron (14) and Syfax (10) reached double figures for Morgan State.
