Plagge Delivers Walk-Off Single

TOWSON, Md. – Towson University sophomore Bo Plagge delivered a walk-off single to left center to give the Tigers a come-from-behind, 8-7, victory over UAlbany Sunday afternoon at Schuerholz Park.

How it Happened
  • With the game tied heading into the bottom of the ninth, Dirk Masters ripped a single through the left side.
  • Facing a first and third with two outs, Plagge deposited the second pitch of his at bat into left center to give the Tigers the walk-off victory.
  • The Tigers (2-7) won the final four innings as they entered the bottom of the sixth inning trailing 6-1.
  • The comeback began as Masters singled up the middle and went to third on Andrew Cassard's double to center.  Richie Palacios was then hit by a pitch to load the bases.
  • Plagge followed with an RBI single into the hole at short before Billy Lennox delivered a sacrifice fly to left field.  Colin Gimblet drove in the fourth run of the inning with a single down the third-base line.
  • Towson would tie the game in the seventh inning as Trey Martinez drew a walk.  Pinch runner Craig Alleyne advanced to third on a pair of balks.  Cassard drove in the runner with a line-drive single to right.
  • UA (3-3) quickly regained the lead in the top of the eighth on an RBI single from Nick Kondo.
  • The Tigers got another two-out hit in the eighth to once again tie the game.  This time it was Charlie Watters who deposited a ball just inside the line in the left-field corner to score Plagge.
  • Plagge led the offensive attack by going 3-for-4 with a pair of RBIs.
  • Masters also had a big day out of the nine hole, going 3-for-5 with a pair of runs scored.
  • Cassard and Gimblet each added two hits as the Tigers finished with 14 on the day.
  • Palacios extended his hit streak to 13 games with a single up the middle.  He finished 1-for-3 with two walks, a hit-by-pitch and two runs scored.
  • Michael Adams had his best start of the season as he struck out seven over 5.2 innings.
  • Dean Stramara (1-0) allowed just one run on three hits over 3.1 innings to earn his first win of the season.
  • Patrick Lagravinese (0-1) allowed the winning run on two hits in two-thirds of an inning to take the loss.
