Towson Falls In CAA Quarterfinals To William & Mary

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Towson University men's basketball team dropped an 80-66 decision to William & Mary in a Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) quarterfinal at the North Charleston Coliseum Sunday afternoon.
 
Sophomore Zane Martin led four Towson players in double figures with 18 points and a career best nine assists. Sophomore Justin Gorham had a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds.
 
Senior Mike Morsell added 14 points and seven rebounds. In finishing his career as the seventh all-time leading scorer in program history with 1,523 points, Morsell also grabbed six rebounds. Eddie Keith II scored 12 points on 6-of-7 shooting.
 
Towson's seniors of Morsell, Keith II, and Brian Starr departed the floor with 37.6 seconds remaining. They all shook Towson head coach Pat Skerry's hand as they headed to the bench.
 
William & Mary, which got 24 points, six rebounds, and seven assists from David Cohn, advances to the semifinals to meet top-seeded College of Charleston Monday night at 6 p.m.

  • The Tigers shot 40.9 percent (27-for-66).
  • William & Mary made six 3-pointers after Towson closed to within, 42-39, with 17 minutes remaining.
