Tigers Drop Series Finale

WILMINGTON, N.C. – The Towson University baseball team scored a run in the top of the first inning, but that is all they could score as the dropped a tough, 5-1, game to UNCW Sunday afternoon at Brooks Field.

  • The Tigers loaded the bases with one out in the top of the fifth inning, but a strikeout and a flyout ended the inning.

How it Happened
  • Towson jumped out to the early lead as Colin Gimblet singled with two outs and scored when Billy Lennox doubled into the corner in right field.
  • Right hander Michael Adams took the mound and kept the Seahawks off the board for the first four innings.
  • The Tigers looked to try and add to their lead in the fifth as Trey Martinez doubled deep into the gap in left center with one out. Craig Alleyne was hit by a pitch and Richie Palacios walked to load the bases.
  • Towson was not able to push across a run as a strikeout and a lineout to left center ended the inning.
  • UNCW took advantage as they tied the game in the bottom of the inning on a RBI double from Noah Bridges.
  • The Seahawks would chase Adams in the seventh inning as they were able to collect five hits and push across three runs in the inning.
  • UNCW added an insurance run in the eighth inning.
