Key Plays
- The Cougars collected five hits, including three doubles, in the first inning to jump out to the 6-0 advantage.
- The Tigers scored two runs in the fourth inning to pull within three. They had a chance to make it closer as they had the bases loaded with two outs, but a grounder up the middle was snared by the shortstop to end the inning.
How it Happened
- The Cougars jumped out quickly as the first two hitters of the game doubled. They would go on to collect a third double and push across six runs on five hits in the frame.
- Tiger starter David Marriggi (3-6) would settle down after that and keep the Cougars off the board for the next three innings.
- Over that time, the Tigers got their first run in the second after Colin Gimblet doubled to right and scored on a Noah Cabrera groundout.
- Gimblet started another rally in the fourth with a single down the left field line. Mark Grunberg followed with a single to right center that put two runners in scoring position.
- Cabrera came through with his second RBI of the game, a sacrifice fly to left center. With two outs, Logan Burke doubled into the left-field corner to score Grunberg.
- Neither starter was on top of their game as both were out of the game by the top of the fifth.
- Marriggi took the loss after allowing seven runs on six hits over four-plus innings.
- Cougar starter Evan Sisk did not factor into the decision after giving up three runs on five hits over 3.2 innings.
- Gavin Weyman entered the game in the fifth inning with two runners on and no outs. After a sacrifice bunt moved both runners, Weyman got a strikeout and a groundout to end the inning.
- Weyman would continue his strong pitching the remainder of the game as he allowed just one unearned run on two hits and four strikeouts over the final five innings.
- Unfortunately, Charleston reliever Carter Love (6-0) was just as effective. The right hander allowed only hit over 5.1 shutout innings.
Inside the Boxscore
- Colin Gimblet led the offense by going 3-for-4 with a pair of runs scored.
- Noah Cabrera drove in a pair of runs and has now driven in six runs in the last two games.

- David Marriggi struck out four hitters to raise his career total to 171, passing former major leaguer Chris Nabholz for fifth place on the all-time list.
