Homers Help Towson Earn 40th Victory

TOWSON, Md. – For four years Towson University's six seniors have always had one another's backs.

That was demonstrated on the final play of Towson's thrilling 4-3, victory over Hofstra in the first game of a Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) doubleheader at the steamy Tiger Softball Stadium Friday afternoon. The Tigers settled for a split after dropping the second game, 12-0.

In the tense opener, Hofstra had the bases loaded with two outs in the seventh inning. Senior pitcher Megan Dejter was being pushed to preserve the slim Tiger advantage against one of the Pride's best hitters, leadoff batter Kristin Hallam, who has lots of speed.

Hallam flailed at the pitch producing an anxiety-inducing short pop. If the ball falls in the infield, the game is tied and Hofstra is still batting. However, it didn't thanks to Miko, who was in the right spot at the right time. The ball hit off of the top of Dejter's glove and into the waiting glove of Miko for the final out of Towson's 40th victory in this fantastic season.

Towson's seniors led the way in its 23rd home victory of the season.
