TOWSON, Md. – Fresh off of rallying from an 18-point deficit to beat rival Delaware in its last outing, the Towson University men's basketball team returns home to face the top two teams in the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) starting with Northeastern.
 
Opening Tip
  • Northeastern has won seven of the last eight games at Towson.

Don't Call It A Comeback

Towson Update
  • Allen Betrand scored a career best 11 points at Drexel. Betrand, who graduated from Philadelphia's Roman Catholic, played his first career collegiate game in his hometown.
  • Betrand has scored in double figures in two of Towson's last four games. He is averaging 7.8 points over that span.
  • All nine players who saw action against Delaware made at least two baskets.
  • Alex Thomas finished with a season best eight rebounds and made the game-winning shot with 22 seconds remaining.
  • Towson shot 69.2 percent in the second half against the Blue Hens. 
  • The win over Delaware was the Tigers first of the season when trailing at halftime and when the opponent attempted more free throws.
  • Dennis Tunstall is fifth in the CAA in rebounding (7.9) and blocked shots (0.8). 
  • Brian Fobbs tallied double digits in 16 straight games and has been the Tigers' leading scorer in 15 of the past 18 contests.
  • Tobias Howard scored all 10 of his points in the 2nd half at Delaware. He has five double-figure efforts in the past eight games.
  • Solomon Uyaelunmo is second in the CAA among freshmen in rebounding (3.8).
  • Towson tops the CAA in rebound margin (+5.7 rpg)
  • The Tigers are 30th nationally in offensive rebounding (12.0) and 41st in rebounding margin.
A Look At Northeastern
  • On a season-best four-game winning streak after victories over Charleston (69-60) and UNCW (88-71) last week.
  • Vasa Pusica shot 70 percent from the floor and tallied a team-high 21 points in both games last week. He's scored double digits in eight straight games and is averaging 17.9 points per game in CAA play.
  • Bolden Brace posted his second double-double of the season with 14 points and a team-high 10 rebounds vs. CofC.
  • Shawn Occeus averaged 16.0 ppg last week, including 20 points vs. UNCW. He's averaging 15.6 ppg over his past five games.
  • Jordan Roland tallied 17 points off the bench vs. UNCW. He's made a team-high 52 treys and is shooting 41.3 percent from 3-point distance.
  • Anthony Green contributed nine points and eight boards vs. CofC. He's shooting 68.2% from the floor and is NU's second-leading rebounder.
  • In the second halves of its last two games, NU shot 68 percent from the floor vs. CofC and 56.7 percent against UNCW. 
  • NU leads the CAA in FG percentage (48.7).
Towson Basketball Offering Complimentary Tickets To Federal Government Employees
  • The Towson University basketball teams will offer two complimentary tickets to federal government employees for games on January 24-27 at SECU Arena.
  • Tickets will be available for the men's games versus Northeastern on Thursday, Jan. 24 and Hofstra on Saturday, Jan. 26 and women's games against Elon on Friday, Jan. 25 and William & Mary on Sunday, Jan. 27.
  • Federal government employees must show their government ID at the Towson Ticket Office located at Gate A to get tickets.

 Perfection When It Comes to Graduation
  • Towson has a perfect men's basketball graduation rate under head coach Pat Skerry.
  • The Tigers are 21-for-21.
Towson In the Community
  • Towson is the Division I national champion of the NCAA Team Works Helper Helper Competition for the Fall 2018 semester. Towson completed the most community service hours among all schools in the competition, including 75 different Division I departments and approximately 300 total programs across the country.
  • The Towson men's basketball team has been active in the community since returning to campus in August. Members of the team spoke at Loch Raven Academy, participated in Towson West Elementary School's Back To School Night and the Autism Speaks Walk.
  • In addition to the athletic and academic success, the Tigers ranked first nationally in Division I men's team sports for their community service activities in the 2017 NCAA Team Works Helper Helper Community Service Competition.
Coaches Powering Forward
  • Autism Speaks Coaches Powering Forward will take place on the weekend of February 15-17, 2019.
  • Tigers host Drexel on Saturday, Feb. 16 at 2 p.m.
  • The Towson women will host the College of Charleston on Sunday, Feb. 17 at 2 p.m.
  • Last season, more than 375 NCAA coaches participated by wearing an Autism Speaks blue puzzle piece lapel pin to help increase understanding and acceptance of people with autism.
  • In total, more than 4,400 pins were worn by coaching staff, officials, broadcasters, and school teams.
  • Autism currently affects one in every 59 children in the U.S and for most, is a lifelong condition.
CAA Tournament Tickets on Sale
  • All-session ticket books for the 2019 CAA Men's Basketball Championship go on sale Thursday, January 10 through TicketMaster (1-800-745-3000), TicketMaster.com and the North Charleston Coliseum Advance Ticket office.
  • The CAA's premier event returns to the Lowcountry on March 9-12, 2019 as the North Charleston (S.C.) Coliseum hosts nine games over four days, with the winner earning the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Men's Basketball Championship.
  • Ticket books, which provide admission to all games of the tournament, can be purchased for as little as $80.
