TOWSON, Md. – Brian Fobbs and
Tobias Howard each scored in double digits as the Towson University men's basketball team (7-15, 3-6 CAA) fell to the first place team in the Colonial Athletic Association, Hofstra (19-3, 9-0 CAA), 84-61 on Saturday afternoon.
Key Game Stats:
- Towson and Hofstra were nearly identical on rebounding and points in the paint. Towson had 27 boards and 32 points in the paint while Hofstra had 29 and 34 respectively. The Tigers earned big contributions from the reserves with 20 points off the bench to Hofstra's two.
- Down early, Towson rallied with a 7-0 run to pull to within seven points late in the first half, but did not bridge the gap vs. Hofstra.
- Brian Fobbs earned double digit scoring for his 18th consecutive game, leading Towson with 22 points off 9-for-14 shooting plus six rebounds. Tobias Howard hit four three-point field goals off the bench, totaling 14 points.
- For Hofstra, Justin Wright-Foreman had 25 points and four assists while Eli Pemberton got 22 points and six rebounds.
- A crowd of 1,602 helped honor those in uniform for Military Appreciation Day.

How it Happened:
- The game began as a defensive battle, with each team playing long into the shot clock to start. Tobias Howard buried a long three about three minutes in to get the lead for Towson. Hofstra countered with an 11-0 run to lead 13-3 with 14:26 to go in the 1st half.
- Down 18-4, Brian Fobbs came alive with a layup on a drive and a three off a pass around the arc. Towson pulled to within nine at 18-9 with 11 to play in the 1st.
- Towson continued to go to Fobbs for scoring as the junior hit a couple more layups to try to counter Hofstra's scoring. Towson was down 12 at the 7:23 mark in the 1st.
- Down 36-22, Towson's aggressive defense and fast break offense paid off as the Tigers put together a 7-0 run, capped by Howard hitting a high arc three in transition to make it 36-29 Hofstra in the closing minutes of the opening period.
- Numerous fouls in the final couple of minutes brought free throws for both sides to conclude the first half. Towson trailed 43-31 at the break.
- Into the second half, Towson scored on its first two possessions, a Jakigh Dottin drive to the hoop and a Dennis Tunstall layup. The back and forth play continued as another Dotton fast break score made the score 51-39 Hofstra at 16:20 to go.
- Hofstra built its lead to 18 as Towson looked to chip away at the deficit. Towson again looked to attempt field goals quickly, leading to fast break baskets from Dottin and Jordan McNeil to bring the deficit down to 12. Later, a personal 4-0 run from Fobbs made the score 66-55 Hofstra with 6:54 to play.
- 11 points is as close as Towson came the rest of the way. Despite late baskets from Fobbs and Solomon Uyaelunmo, the Tigers fell 84-61.
