Women's Soccer Defeats Charleston 2-1

TOWSON, Md.  – The Towson University women's soccer team defeated College of Charleston 2-1 Sunday afternoon at Patriots Field to conclude the regular season.

Towson (4-13-1, 1-8-0 CAA) earns its first conference win after goals by senior Lexi Littlefield and sophomore Jenna Blank. Charleston (9-9-0, 2-7-0 CAA) struck first with a goal by Alyssa Beck in the first half.

How it Happened
  • The Cougars Katrina Komen took a shot seven minutes into the game and the Tiger defense blocked it.
  • Littlefield took a shot from the right side of the box but the Cougars goalkeeper Meredith Holton had the save.
  • Hannah Farmer had a shot for Charleston but goalkeeper Delaney Mitchell had the save.
  • Beck scored with the assist by Farmer to give Charleston the 1-0 lead, 19:04 on the clock.
  • A header shot by Madison Carr got blocked by the Cougars defense.
  • Blank entered the game and took a shot at the 28 minute mark but it went wide.
  • At the 30 minute mark, Camryn Anderson took a shot from the top of the box but it went wide left.
  • Then after a corner kick by Monica Scaglione, Anderson headed the ball but it went wide right.
  • Mitchell had another save for Towson after a shot by Komen at the 34 minute mark.
  • Four minutes left into the half and Kaysie Louro had the last shot but it went high.
  • 57 seconds into the second half, Littlefield scored from the top of the 18 for Towson and tied the game 1-1.
  • Charleston took two more shots, one saved by Mitchell the other went wide right.
  • Anderson had another shot at the 68 minute mark but it was blocked.
  • Moriah Wigley had a shot but it was also blocked.
  • At the 80 minute mark, Blank dribbled into the right side of the box and scored to give the Tigers a 2-1 lead.
  • Mitchell with the amazing diving save after Charleston's Rachel Posner attempted a shot.
  • Towson took the last corner of the game.
Behind the Numbers
  • Six shots was taken by both teams in the first half but Towson out-shot Charleston 12-11.
  • Charleston took eight corners, while Towson took four.
  • Mitchell had four saves in the game while her counterpart had two.
