Tigers Battle Delaware In 2OT Thriller

TOWSON, Md. – Towson University's Brian Fobbs scored 29 points and Dennis Tunstall grabbed a career best 21 rebounds during a 78-71 double overtime setback to rival Delaware in a Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) men's basketball game at SECU Arena Thursday.

  • Tunstall established a SECU Arena record, passing Jerelle Benimon's previous mark of 18 established against Delaware on Feb. 17, 2014.
  • Tunstall became the ninth Tiger in program history to grab at least 20 rebounds in a single game.
  • The 21 rebounds are tied for the fifth-most in a single game in program history.
  • This was the 16th time in program history a Towson player finished with at least 20 rebounds.
  • This was the first time since 2012 a Towson player had at least 20 rebounds in a game.
  • This was Tunstall's fifth double-digit rebounding performance of the season.
  • Tunstall is the second CAA player this season to finish with at least 20 rebounds.

How It Happened
  • Fobbs, who topped 20 points for the fifth time in the last eight games, added nine rebounds.
  • Fobbs forced overtime when he made a corner 3-pointer with 10.9 seconds remaining.
  • He helped Towson erase a 64-58 deficit with 26 seconds remaining.
  • Fobbs gave the Tigers their final lead of the game, 71-70, with 87 seconds remaining in the second overtime.
  • In addition to Fobbs, Tobias Howard, Jr. finished with 15 points.
  • Howard Jr. made two 3-pointers, including one with 12 seconds remaining that pulled Towson to within, 64-61.
  • Following Howard's 3-pointer, the Tigers forced a turnover that helped set up Fobbs' game-tying triple.
  • This was the 17th game this season in which Howard has made at least two 3-pointers.
  • Allen Betrand had a career best three steals.
  • Alex Thomas blocked a season best three shots.
  • Delaware's Ithiel Horton scored five points in the second overtime as the Blue Hens scored the final eight points of the game.
  • Ryan Allen scored 30 points and made six 3-pointers to lead Delaware.
  • Eric Carter (16 points, seven rebounds) and Horton (15 points) also reached double figures for Delaware, which ended a seven-game losing streak to Towson.
