Six Goals From Sulmonte Leads Women's Lacrosse to First CAA Win

TOWSON, Md. – Friday night the Towson University women's lacrosse team hosted Elon in the first home conference game of the year. The Tigers took down the Phoenix 16-4 led by Natalie Sulmonte with six goals and one assist.

Towson moves to 3-9 on the year with a 1-1 mark in Colonial Athletic Association (CAA). Sunday afternoon the Tigers return to action at noon against William & Mary, at Johnny Unitas ® Stadium.

  • Natalie Sulmonte's first score of the night came at 10:28, extending the Towson lead to 3-1.

  • Coeli Love, Hannah Hobbes and Shelby Stack all tallied goals in the first half, as Sulmonte led the team with three entering the locker room.
  • Entering the second half was similar as the first, eight minutes passed before Sulmonte tallied her fourth goal of the night.
  • Towson led 10-1 with 22 minutes remaining.
  • The Phoenix found an answer, scoring one on a free position attempt, the first goal in 33 minutes, making it a 10-2 game.
  • Sachs and Sulmonte scored back-to-back, extending the lead to 12-2 and beginning the rolling clock.
  • Sophomore Kaitlin Thornton got her first goal of the night with 14:34 remaining.
  • Elon found room to score two minutes later, but the 13-3 advantage for the home team meant the clock would keep going.
  • Three more Tiger goals put the game to bed, one from Kerri Liucci and another from Abby Wilkinson, as Sulmonte recorded her sixth in the last 10 minutes of action.
  • The Phoenix scored their final goal with 1:12 on the clock.
