TOWSON, Md. – Towson University Associate Athletic Director of Compliance
Terry Porter has announced the hiring of
Maggie Yarnell as a Compliance Specialist.
Yarnell joins the Tiger staff from St. Bonaventure University where she served as a graduate assistant for athletic compliance. She also worked at Bloomsburg University while attending Penn State Law School where she received a Juris Doctor degree.
Yarnell also earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in labor & employment relations from Penn State.
A Lock Haven, Pennsylvania native, Yarnell combines legal experience with a background in compliance at athletic departments across various universities, and legal services at a non-profit organization and the Clinton County Office of the District Attorney.
Yarnell has extensive experience in analyzing NCAA Bylaws for Division I & II athletics, drafting monthly compliance newsletters, facilitating compliance meetings for coaches and staff, assisting with Title IX compliance reviews, writing memorandums and outlining scopes of representation, and conducting legal research.
The versatile Yarnell also wrote for LastWordonSports.com publishing articles specific to Penn State football. In addition, Yarnell developed lesson plans and instructed students on legal principles in criminal law, civil procedure and employment law in her role as a law school teacher with the Street Law Program.
