First and Second Round NCAA Tournament Tickets on Sale

PITTSBURGH -- Tickets for the first and second rounds of the 2021 NCAA Women's Volleyball Tournament are now available through the host institution, University of Pittsburgh.

Towson University (26-4), which won its third-straight CAA Championship, takes on Penn State University (20-10) on Friday at 4 p.m. The winner of that match will take on the winner of the 7 p.m. match between third-seeded Pitt and America East champion UMBC. Saturday's second round match is set for a 7 p.m. first serve.

Ticket prices for the three matches, hosted at the Petersen Events Center, are set at $20 for the entire weekend. All tickets will be digital and can be purchased here. Seating for the NCAA Tournament First and Second Round matches will be general admission.

The Tigers and Penn State meet for a second time in the NCAA Tournament in just three years. The two sides squared off in the second round of the 2019 NCAA Tournament at the Nittany Lions' home, Rec Hall. Penn State won that clash in four sets.

Towson returns five players that saw time against Penn State in the 2019 edition of the NCAA Tournament: Lydia Wiers, Asia Goins, Emily Jarome, Fay Bakodimou, and Kristin Spengler. Likewise, Penn State has four that played back from that team: Jonni Parker, Gabby Blossom, Kaitlyn Hord, and Jenna Hampton.

This season, the Tigers earned the top seed in the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Tournament after going 12-4 in the league. Towson won its third-straight league title in dramatic fashion, rallying from a 2-0 deficit against second-seeded Elon University in the title match, reeling off three-straight sets.

This year's title is the Tigers' second CAA crown in the calendar year after winning it all in the spring with sweeps over College of Charleston and Northeastern. Towson won the league in 2019 following the CAA's first-ever 16-0 season. Towson went on to best American University in five sets during the first round of the NCAA Tournament, the program's first NCAA Tournament victory.
