TOWSON, Md. – Towson University football head coach Rob Ambrose has announced the elevation of Justin Harper and Drew Rodriguez to higher roles on the Tiger coaching staff.
 
Harper, the wide receivers coach, is Towson's new pass game coordinator while Rodriguez is the new quarterbacks coach.
 
"It has been a blessing to have Justin Harper and Drew Rodriquez working multiple roles within our staff throughout the very trying times that have defined this past year," said Ambrose. "While they are both hard-working men who are excellent educators and ambassadors for our university, their personal investment in the student-athletes they coach sets them apart from the crowd. Towson Football is better with them."
 
Harper has been with Towson since the 2017 season, working primarily with the wide receivers.  The former Virginia Tech standout and NFL player with the Baltimore Ravens helped Towson be one of best passing offenses in the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) in 2018 and 2019, coaching each Shane Leatherbury and Jabari Allen to be top-10 in the league in receiving yards and receptions per game in 2018.  Leatherbury finished his career a two-time All-CAA player, setting a program season record with 12 receiving touchdowns in 2019.
 
Rodriguez has been a quality control coach since 2019, working with the Towson offense.  A former standout QB at Warner University in Florida, Rodriguez has worked as a quarterbacks coach at Southwest Miami High School in 2016 and as a defensive QC and graduate assistant at Florida International from 2017-18.  With Towson in 2019, he helped an offense that earned over 30 points per game and had four All-CAA Second Team selections.
 
Towson wrapped up spring practice last Saturday and is preparing for the fall 2021 campaign.
