TOWSON, Md. – The Towson University men's basketball team brings in another transfer from the home state, welcoming in Mount Airy native Chase Paar for the 2021-22 campaign.
 
Paar spent the last two years at George Washington University, playing in 34 games with 30 starts.  The 6-foot-9, 220-pound forward shot 58.2% from the field with the Colonials, getting 5.7 points and 5.2 rebounds per game and tallying 32 blocks in those years.
 
"Chase is a welcome addition to our program," said Towson head coach Pat Skerry. "He is a player we loved out of high school and we are thrilled that he and his family are joining our Towson team. Chase is a highly-skilled, physical forward who has benefited from playing at George Washington in the Atlantic 10 Conference under Coach Christian. Additionally, his production and rebounding the basketball fits both our style and a need.  We are very excited to get working with Chase over the summer and watch his game continue to develop."
 
He had back-to-back double-doubles as a freshman with GW against some of the strongest opponents in Atlantic 10 Conference play, including 13 points and 16 rebounds vs. Davidson on Jan. 29.
 
Out of Glenelg Country School in Columbia, Paar was a three-star recruit and the No. 8 recruit from the state of Maryland by 247Sports.  He earned Second Team All-Metro and All-MIAA A Conference recognition after helping Glenelg win 21 games as a senior, leading the school to the Maryland Independent Schools Tournament Championship and scoring 23 points in the championship game.
 
Paar will join fellow Maryland natives Chris Caliguiran, Jason Gibson, Curtis Holland III, Terry Nolan Jr., Justin Patterson and Charles Thompson for the 2021-22 season.
