TOWSON, Md. – Towson University guard Aaron Grzymkowski has been honored as a semifinalist for the 2021 William V. Campbell Trophy®, one of the most prestigious awards in college football.

The William V. Campbell Trophy®, according to the mission statement of the National Football Foundation (NFF), recognizes an individual as the absolute best football scholar-athlete in the nation for combined academic success, football performance and exemplary leadership.

On the field, Grzymkowski is a two-time All-CAA guard, including Second Team All-CAA in 2019, blocking for an offense that averaged over 30 points a game in 2018 and 2019.  He was chosen as a team captain this season and is in his third season as the starting left guard.

In the classroom, Grzymkowski earned his undergraduate degree in December 2019 in sociology & anthropology with a 3.67 grade point average (GPA).  He is currently working on his Master's Degree in applied information technology and holds a 4.0 GPA.

The Stevensville, Maryland native is one of 176 semifinalists for the trophy across all divisions of college football.  He is one of 36 semifinalists from the FCS level.

The NFF will announce 12-14 finalists on Oct. 27.  All finalists will receive an $18,000 postgraduate scholarship as a member of the 2021 NFF National Scholar-Athlete Class.  The winner will be announced on Dec. 7 in Las Vegas.

"These 176 impressive candidates truly represent the scholar-athlete ideal," said NFF Chairman Archie Manning in the NFF press release. "For more than 60 years, the NFF National Scholar-Athlete Awards have honored more than 800 college football players who have been successful on the football field, in the classroom and as leaders in the community. And we are excited to celebrate the 32nd year of the Campbell Trophy®, which honors the best of the best. This year's semifinalists further illustrate the power of our great sport in developing the next generation of influential leaders."
