NEWARK, Del. – The Towson University women's soccer team had to fight a tough Delaware side, along with heavy rain for a 1-1 draw on Sunday afternoon.
Towson (8-2-3, 1-1-2 CAA) got a first half goal from
Sydney Cradle, but Delaware (2-7-4, 1-2-1 CAA) got an early second half goal to tie it.

How It Happened:
- Both teams battled for field position early in the match as the rain fell heavily. Riley Melendez made a save on the only shot for either team through the first 10 minutes.
- Phoebe Canoles had a scoring chance in the 15th minute from 25 yards out, but her attempt was stopped.
- Sydney Cradle put the Tigers in front in the 35th minute. She took a pass from Alexandra Rush and found the net on a beauty of a strike from distance to give Towson a 1-0 lead.
- That would be the best opportunity for either side the rest of the half, as Towson took a 1-0 lead into the break.
- Delaware wasted no time in the second half getting the tying goal just minutes into the half.
- The Blue Hens would control possession early in the second half getting a few good chances, but Riley Melendez and the defense was up to the task to keep it 1-1.
- Both teams had to battle the rain the rest of the match, with each side having chances on goal.
- However, neither team could find the net the rest of the way as the match ended in a 1-1 draw.
