TOWSON, Md. – The Towson University football team and the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) have announced the schedule for the 2022 campaign.
 
The Tigers are set for an 11-game regular season, including five home games at Johnny Unitas® Stadium, a full eight-game CAA slate, a contest against FBS team West Virginia and the return of The Battle for Greater Baltimore to Towson.
 
The CAA announced the schedules for all 13 football members, current and future, today for the 2022 season.  The league will be welcoming in two new football members in 2022: Hampton and Monmouth.

Towson is currently in spring practice to get ready for the fall 2022 campaign.  Last year, Towson retained The Battle for Greater Baltimore trophy with its win over Morgan State and earned a 21-point victory over then top-15 Rhode Island. 
 
"We are very much looking forward to an exciting new season, including with some new league members this year," said Towson head coach Rob Ambrose.
 
Game times for all contests will be announced at a future date.
 
Towson will play three non-conference contests to start the 2022 year, beginning with a trip to former Patriot League-rival Bucknell on Sept. 3.
 
The home opener will see the next chapter of The Battle for Greater Baltimore against Morgan State on Sept. 10.  This is the first time this game will be played at Unitas since 2017 with Towson looking to retain the trophy after winning 31-0 at Morgan State last season.
 
Towson wraps up the non-league slate with a challenge at Big 12 opponent West Virginia on Sept. 17.  Not counting 2021, it is the 14^th straight season that Towson will take on an FBS foe.
 
The conference home opener is set for Sept. 24 as the Tigers welcome in New Hampshire.  This will be followed by two road CAA games: at rival Delaware on Oct. 1 and at Elon on Oct. 8.
 
Following the bye week, Towson returns to Unitas on Oct. 22 to play William & Mary.
 
Towson will take on new league opponent Monmouth in New Jersey on Oct. 29, then will come back to Unitas to challenge 2021 FCS quarterfinalist Villanova on Nov. 5.  After a trip to Long Island to play at Stony Brook on Nov. 12, the Tigers will host new CAA member Hampton on Nov. 19 for Senior Day.
