Thornton and Koras Unload Five Goals Each as Women's Lacrosse Defeats UMBC

BALTIMORE, Md. – Kerri Thornton recorded a career-high seven points as the Towson women's lacrosse team rolled to a 19-12 decision over UMBC for its second consecutive win.

Thornton set career bests with five goals and two assists in the outing. Freshman Halley Koras also set a new career-high with five goals, all in the first half.

Former Under Armour All-American Blair Pearre scored three goals to record her 18th career hat trick. She has scored at least two goals in 24 of 28 games at the collegiate level. Her 85 career goals are fast approaching the Top 20 in school history.

Milana Zizakovic and Hannah Delahaye added two goals apiece, while Lindsay Clarke scored one goal and handed out four assists.

The Tigers won the draw controls battle, 23-11. Pearre secured 10 for her second consecutive game with double-digit draw controls. Thornton earned seven draw controls.

  • UMBC answered with three goals of its own to knot it at 5-all. Towson took the lead back before the end of the first, however, with a pair of scores from Pearre and Zizakovic.
  • The Tigers opened scoring in the second with a five-goal run, once again led by Koras who secured two more goals to reach her career-high of five goals. Thornton also added two scores. The Black & Gold went into halftime with a 13-7 advantage.
  • Clarke found Thornton in front of the cage for a goal to start off the third. Each team finished the quarter with two scores as Towson went into the final 15 minutes with the six-goal lead, 15-9.
  • UMBC got on the board first in the fourth, but Pearre and Thornton answered, scoring less than 50 seconds apart to stay in control, 17-10.
