PHILADELPHIA – A
Sydni Byers two-run single in the opening inning was not enough for the Towson University softball team as the Tigers fell at Drexel 6-2 in the series opener.
Towson (10-18, 0-4 CAA) led 2-0 after three innings off the Byers single and a strong beginning on the mound for
Julia Jackson. Drexel (14-7, 3-1 CAA) scored six combined from the fourth to sixth innings to get the victory.

- Sydni Byers finished 1-for-3 in the game, driving in two runs. Briana Ramirez notched a double on a 1-for-3 afternoon, adding a run.
- Julia Jackson (7-8) got the loss despite beginning with three scoreless innings, finishing with 5.2 innings, six runs and three strikeouts.
- For Drexel, Kristi DiMeo compiled a 2-for-3 game with a double, RBI, two runs and a walk. The win went to Brooklyn Daly (7-2), who pitched a complete game with two runs and two strikeouts.
How It Happened:
- In the opening inning, Towson picked up second and third with two away. Sydni Byers lined the ball up the middle for a two-run single, scoring Briana Ramirez and Mackenzie Lake, to make it 2-0 Towson.
- Julia Jackson pitched the first three innings scoreless, including 1-2-3 frames in the first and second. In the fourth inning, Drexel finished the frame with three RBI at bats to lead.
- Towson looked to respond in the next inning, with a Nicole Kidwiler single leading to two runners on, but Drexel pitched out of the frame. Drexel added three more runs combined in the next two innings. Towson fell in the game 6-2.
