MECHELEN, Belgium – Towson alum Brian Fobbs is returning to the professional ranks, signing with Kangoeroes Basket Mechelen in Belgium for the upcoming 2022-23 season.
This past year, Fobbs played his first professional season with the Vilpas Vikings in Finland. He shot 53.3% from the field and 38.6% from three, averaging 13.6 points, 5.5 rebounds and 2.2 blocks per game. He helped the team to be the Korisliiga runner-up and a berth into the 2021-22 Basketball Champions League.
Fobbs played for the Tigers from 2018-20 and became the first Towson JUCO player to score over 1,000 points since 1978. The two-time All-CAA Second Team guard finished with 1,083 points at Towson, starting all 64 games he played in a Black & Gold uniform.
The Kangoeroes Basket Mechelen competes in the BNXT League, combining teams from Belgium and the Netherlands. The team was the 2021-22 runner-up in the BNXT Belgian Championship. They play in Mechelen, just 31 miles north of Brussels, the capital of Belgium.
