Holden Records the Second Triple Double in Program History in 92-73 Win Against William & Mary

TOWSON, Md. – Towson men's basketball recorded their sixth straight win in a 92-73 win against William & Mary on Saturday night. The Tigers had five reach double figures led by a 24-point, 10 rebound, 10 assist triple double from Cam Holden.

The triple double for Holden was just the second ever in program history. The other time it happened was on December 10, 2013 by Jerrelle Benimon against Central Penn.

Charles Thompson also reached double figures with 20 points on 9-10 shooting with four blocks.

Key Stats:

  • Towson shot 52 percent from the floor, hitting 10 threes in the contest.
  • The Tigers scored 50 of their 92 points in the paint and outscored the Tribe bench, 40-16.
How It Happened:
  • William & Mary got out to a quick 8-0 start in the first 2:15 of the game to force a Towson timeout.
  • Towson battled back thanks in part to a pair of three pointers by Christian May that brought the Tigers to within one.
  • Sekou Sylla would score four straight points, including a tough driving layup to tie the game at 19, forcing a William & Mary timeout.
  • After the Tribe retook a five-point lead, Towson had a response. Charles Thompson hit a put back off a Ryan Conway miss to start an 8-0 run. Thompson capped the run with a steal and slam on the other end to force another William & Mary timeout.
  • Towson would continue their hot shooting, ending the half shooting over 60 percent taking their largest lead at 49-40 lead into the break. The 49 points is the most in a single half for the Tigers this season.
  • Towson would pick up where they left off, extending to a double digit advantage after Charles Thompson had a posterizing dunk over two defenders.
  • Tyler Coleman pushed it back to a double figure lead with a layup off an out of bounds play just before the under 12 timeout.
  • The Tigers would continue to roll. Cam Holden would catch fire late in the second half, pushing their advantage to 24, their largest of the game with 2:39 to go.
  • At the 5:52 mark in the second half, Holden grabbed his 10th rebound of the contest to complete just the second ever triple double in program history.
