NEWARK, Del. – The Towson University field hockey team's early lead and lockdown goalkeeping were not enough at Delaware, ultimately falling 2-1 Friday evening at Fred P. Rullo Stadium in Newark, Delaware.
Sarah Hatfield scored on an unassisted goal for the Tigers.

How it Happened:
- Georgia Beachley forced a turnover and charged towards the circle, sending it in towards the goal. The ball was deflected, but Sarah Hatfield was there to put away the rebound to give the Tigers the lead.
- Minutes later, Tessa Scheenstra made a stick-side penalty stroke save to keep the lead.
- Scheenstra made four total saves in the second quarter to maintain the 1-0 lead at the break.
- Seven minutes into the third, Delaware's Morgan Bradford knocked in a deflection off a chip to tie it up.
- After being awarded a penalty corner, Julia Duffhuis found the cage to give the Blue Hens a 2-1 lead.
- The Blue Hens were awarded another penalty stroke minutes later, which was again denied by Scheenstra.
- The Tigers had four corner opportunities in the fourth quarter but couldn't connect on the equalizing goal.

- Hatfield's nine goals this season mark the most for a Tiger in a season since Kristie Blumer scored nine goals in 2010.
