HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. – Towson softball saw their magical season end with an 6-4 and 5-4 heartbreaking loss in the championship round of the 2023 CAA Softball Championships. Towson rallied back in game one before dropping an 6-4 decision. In the winner take all finale, Towson held the lead twice before a walk-off single in the seventh handed Towson a 5-4 loss.
Towson (30-25) ends their season with a winning record for the first time since 2018 where they also had 30-plus wins.

How It Happened – Game One:
- Hofstra got on the board first with a pair of runs in the top of the first. Towson would get runners on in their half but would strand them on base.
- Towson would get on the board in the second. Briana Ramirez would drive in Kristin Toland with an infield single to cut the deficit to 2-1.
- The Pride would get a run back in the third to extend their lead to 3-2.
- The Tigers cut it to one with a run in the sixth. Addie Ferguson led off with a double and would be pinch ran for by Kellie Zoerb. Just batters later, Sydni Byers would come on to pinch hit and deliver an RBI single to score Zoerb and make it 3-2.
- Hofstra would get a three-run home run in the seventh to push the deficit to 6-2.
- Towson would continue to battle. Mackenzie Lake would get on with a single and be brought home on a Madyson Peters RBI double. Just batters later, Peters scored on a fielder's choice from Cara Bohner.
- However, the inning ended on a ground out with a 6-4 loss for Towson.

- Hofstra once again got out to an early lead off a solo home run in the second.
- Towson had an immediate answer in the third. After Cori Jones got on with a double, Mackenzie Lake ripped a 3-1 pitch to left for her team-leading sixth home run of the season and give Towson a 2-1 lead.
- After the Pride tied it in the fourth, Towson would retake the lead in the sixth. With the bases loaded, Sydni Byers came on to pinch hit and drew a walk to give Towson a 3-2 lead.
- That lead would extend to 4-2 on a Briana Ramirez RBI single.
- The Pride would get a run in the bottom of the sixth to cut the Tiger lead to just one.
- Hofstra would cap their comeback with a pair of runs in the bottom of the seventh to defeat the Tigers 5-4.
