TOWSON, Md. – Towson University field hockey defeated Davidson 3-2 in thrilling fashion after a 1-0 shootout decision Sunday afternoon, the first win for
Katie Gerzabek Salem at the helm of the Tigers.
Sarah Hatfield scored her first goal of the season while
Annie Keele picked up her second assist in the first quarter.
Gianna Antone registered her second goal this year with assists from
Olivia Handelong and
Georgia Beachley.

How it Happened:
- The Tigers opened the game with four saves from Tessa Scheenstra, a block and a defensive save through the first 11 minutes. After back-to-back penalty corners in the 14th minute, Sarah Hatfield found the back the cage with less than a minute remaining in the first quarter.
- The Tigers posted three shots in the second quarter with none from Davidson.
- Towson opened the second half with another four saves from Scheenstra.
- On a penalty corner in the 41st minute, Olivia Handelong connected with Beachley who found Antone for a 2-0 lead.
- The Wildcats responded a few minutes later with a goal from Celie Constantine, assisted by Macy Curtis.
- In the fourth, Hatfield was blocked leading to an unassisted Davidson goal for Sib Naaktgeboren.
- The two team exchanged blows in the first overtime period. Hatfield was able to pass the goalie in the second minute, but the shot was saved by Sarah Minges.
- The Wildcats got two shots on goal in the second overtime, both saved by Scheenstra.
- With a tied game after two overtime periods, it went to a shootout. Hatfield got it by the Davidson goalie on Towson's first attempt. The next nine attempts were missed, five from Davidson and four from Towson, giving the Black & Gold a 1-0 edge in the shootout victory.
