ELON, N.C. – Towson women's soccer erased a first half deficit with a pair of goals in a four-minute span to defeat Elon 2-1 on Thursday. The Tigers outshot the Phoenix 22-8 including 14 shots in the second half.
Towson (6-1-1, 2-0-1 CAA) got a goal from
Phoebe Canoles in the 71
st minute to tie the game with
Jasmine Hamid scoring in the 75
th minute to complete the comeback against Elon (1-3-2, 0-1 CAA).
Nia Christopher and
Julie Lynch each recorded an assist.

How It Happened:
- Nia Christopher and Jasmine Hamid each had headers in the first ten minutes that just sailed over the crossbar.
- Elon nearly took the lead just seconds later, but their shot went just past the post.
- Christopher once again found the ball on her foot in the box in the 24th minute but her attempt went just wide of the net.
- Elon got the scoring started with a goal in the 25th minute to take a 1-0 lead.
- The Tigers would get a free kick just outside the 18-yard line in the second half, but the half ended with Elon leading 1-0.
- Julie Lynch had an early look in the 47th minute off a corner kick, but her shot was saved.
- Towson continued to pressure. Christopher had a great turn from 8-yards out, but it was stopped.
- The Tigers would find the equalizer in the 71st minute. Phoebe Canoles took a pass from Nia Christopher and got a deflection on her shot to end up in the back of the net.
- Just three minutes later Towson would take the lead. Jasmine Hamid would get the ball with space down the left side. She made a move inside and got a deflection for her seventh goal of the season to give Towson a 2-1 lead.
- Riley Melendez kept the Tigers in front just minutes later. The Phoenix found themselves on goal, but Melendez made a point blank save.
- Towson would control play the rest of the way holding on for a 2-1 comeback win on Thursday night.

- Towson now leads the all-time series with Elon 6-3-1 and have won the last two contests.
- Nia Christopher is now four points shy of tying Emily Banes for the all-time lead.
- This was the first win this season when the Tigers did not score first.
