How it Happened

  • A 16-yard pass from Sean Brown to Zay Perkins brought Towson just outside midfield, but Towson was forced to punt later, putting Monmouth on its own 11.  Towson forced a three-and-out, capped by a Jurnee Dunbar sack, to begin the next drive in Monmouth territory.
  • Into the second quarter, Towson converted a fourth and one with a Devin Matthews rush up the middle for 18 yards.  Three plays later on the Monmouth 10, Tyrell Greene Jr. scored on the 10-yard sweep to the left side to make it 7-0 Towson with 13:20 left in the second.
  • A few Rodney Nelson runs then a 41-yard pass to Gavin Nelson brought Monmouth to the Towson 13.  Fourth down and one on the four, Monmouth ran back-to-back running back direct snaps to score and tie the game at 7-7, 8:54 in the second.
