Barrett Leads the Way Past Stony Brook Volleyball with 19 Kills in Opening Round of CAA Championship

TOWSON, Md. – The Towson University volleyball team faced Stony Brook in the opening round of the CAA Championship on Thursday evening. The Tigers swept the Seawolves in straight sets, setting up tomorrow's semifinal match against the #2 seed Delaware Blue Hens.
 
Victoria Barrett led the field with 19 kills. Zyare Abdul-Rahim and Ylenia De Mango were second and third in the match with 12 and 8, respectively.

  • The Seawolves held a 9-6 lead early in the third set before an 8-1 Towson run reclaimed a 14-10 lead.

  • Stony Brook sided out before Abdul-Rahim's kill put the exclamation point on the Tigers' sweep.

  • Barrett recorded her seventh double-double of the season with 19 kills and 13 digs.
  • Maisie Jesse had the most assists in the match with 23.
  • Sydney Stewart had a match-high 21 digs.
