TOWSON, Md. – Towson men's basketball fell against the Cougars, 72-56 on Saturday afternoon in front of a TU Arena record crowd of 4,322 fans. Towson fought back from an early deficit to take a first half lead, but the Cougars defeated the Tigers on Saturday.
Towson (17-12, 10-6 CAA) had a trio in double figures led by
Dylan Williamson with 13 points.
Charles Thompson had a strong game with 12 points and a team-best eight rebounds.
Key Stats:
- Williamson went 5-10 from the floor. Thompson shot 6-11 with three offensive rebounds.
- Christian May also hit double figures with 10 points.
- Towson outrebounded Charleston 28-27 in the game with 10 offensive rebounds.
How It Happened:
- Charleston raced out to an early 10-2 lead that forced an early Towson timeout. Dylan Williamson would cut the deficit in half with a three at the under 16 timeout to make it 10-5.
- That would spark a 9-0 run capped with a Nendah Tarke three that gave the Tigers their first lead.
- Both teams would battle back and forth with the Cougars taking a one-point lead at the under 12 timeout.
- Charleston would get out to a 15-point lead late in the half, but the Tigers would cut it to 40-26 at the break.
- Dylan Williamson led all scorers with nine points with Nendah Tarke adding six and Charles Thompson chipping in six points and six rebounds.
- The Cougars would come out and extend their lead to 20 early in the second half. Charles Thompson would quell the run with a hook shot in the lane.
- A quick Tyler Tejada three and Dylan Williamson pull up cut into the deficit, but the Cougars responded with a three of their own.
- However, the Cougars would hold off the Tigers, 72-56 on Saturday.

- A record crowd of 4,322 came out to see Towson vs. Charleston on Saturday. That mark beats the previous record of 4,262 set against Navy in the first game in the building in 2013.
